Dr. Sato is a Professor and Director-General of the Earth Simulator Center in Tokyo, Japan. He also held the positions of Professor and Director at the Theory and Computer Simulation Center, National Institute for Fusion Science and Professor at the Graduate University for Advanced Studies. Tetsuya Sato received his BSci, MSci, and PhD in Electronics from Kyoto University. He has a number of awards, including the Excellent JIP Award of Nikkei Science and the Nishina Memorial Award.
