Dr. Muñoz
Dr. Muñoz has over thirty years of
experience in the Federal government, including his most recent role as Deputy
Office Director and Senior Scientific Advisor for the Office of CyberInfrastructure at the National Science Foundation.
Previously, he was Director of the Simulation and Computer Science Office in NNSA’s Advanced Simulation and Computing (ASCI) program;
Program Manager and Assistant Director in DARPA’s
Information Technology Office; and Chief Architect for submarine combat systems
at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC).
Dr. Muñoz received his Ph.D. in
Computer Science from the University of Connecticut and is a member of the ACM
and the IEEE Computer Society. He has several publications (including a patent)
in high performance sonar/signal processing and maintains ongoing research
interests in this field. Dr. Muñoz
experiences spanning multiple agencies make him a popular selection for key
roles in multi-agency initiatives, including Co-chair of the Core Technologies
Working Group of the recent High End Computing Revitalization Task Force
(HECRTF) and was just recently appointed to Co-Chair the federal
government’s High-End Computing Interagency Working Group (HEC-IWG).
