Robert A. Messemer

Robert A. Messemer is the Chief Security Officer for the Nielsen Company, the global leader in audience, consumer and media measurement.  He was appointed to this role in October, 2007 and is based in Schaumburg, Illinois.

In his role, Robert has world-wide responsibility for all security operations including protecting Nielsen’s people, information security, regulatory compliance, executive protection and safeguarding Nielsen’s global reputation for integrity.

Prior to joining Nielsen, Robert served as a Special Agent of the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) where he served with distinction in several leadership roles.  Robert was recognized by the U.S. Attorney General, three Directors of the FBI and several U.S. Ambassadors for his numerous accomplishments both home and abroad. He has worked and traveled extensively through Asia and Europe. Robert retired from the FBI in 2007 after 24 years of public service.

During his tenure with the FBI, Robert was also assigned as senior advisor to the United States Trade Representative on Chinese law enforcement and security issues. In 1995, Robert was present for the signing of the U.S. – Sino Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Trade Agreement in Beijing, China.

Robert graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration (BBA).
