BOB
MEISNER
Bob Meisner is the Deputy Director of
the Office of Advanced Computing and Simulation (ASC) at the National Nuclear
Security Administration. The ASC Office
is responsible for providing the simulation capabilities required to maintain a
safe, secure and reliable nuclear weapons stockpile.
Mr. Meisner joined the Accelerated
Strategic Computing Initiative (ASCI) program in 1996 as the Director of the
Office of Stockpile Computing, while an active duty Air Force officer. Following a two year hiatus, and retirement
from the Air Force, he returned to the program in 2002. During his 27 years in the Air Force Mr. Meisner led a variety of software development, and computer
and communications operations activities, including serving as chief of the Air
Force Weapons Laboratory supercomputer operation in 1983.
Mr. Meisner graduated from Northeast
Louisiana University in 1974 with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, and
earned a master’s degree in computer technology from the Air Force Institute of
Technology in 1981.
