Steve Louis
Steve
Louis is Assistant Department Head for Integrated Computing and Communications
at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. After graduating from the University
of California at Berkeley in 1974, he began his career as one of the first
employees at the National Energy Research Supercomputer Center, and has worked
in high-performance computing, mass storage and scientific visualization for
more than 30 years. He received an R&D 100 Award in 1997 for development of
the High Performance Storage System, and a DOE Defense Programs Award of
Excellence in 2001 for integration and initial deployment of ASC White. He has
been the coordinator for early science calculations on BlueGene/L
for the past two years.
