Kevin Kerr

 

Kevin Kerr is the Manager of Cyber Security Evaluations for the Unwin Company, Government Services Division.  In this position, he is responsible for the assessment of information cyber security programs at Department of Energy sites, Department of Labor facilities, the Center for Disease Control, and commercial energy providers.  He has established test parameters, led technical teams, and provided synopses of results and corrective actions.  In his 9 years working in cyber security oversight, Kevin has written over 70 reports summarizing cyber security audits/inspections that detail strengths and weaknesses, non-compliances with Federal and industry directives, and areas for improvement.  In previous positions, he established client’s Computer Security Project Office and developed their computer security practices.  Kevin developed guidelines within Federal, state, and industry standards for management and technical cyber security assessments for multiple clients in the private and public sector.  He administered security and system management for distributed Unix client-server domains, consisting of Sun, NCR, IBM, and HP systems.  Kevin started in the telecommunications and information technology field over twenty-seven years ago in the United States Air Force, and is still active in the USAF as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Ohio Air National Guard as 180th Fighter Wing Communications Squadron Commander.  Kevin is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional, a certified DoD Facility Security Officer, and has his SANS Security Leadership Essentials for Managers (GIAC GSLC).
