Dr. Sampath Kannan
Sampath Kannan received a Master's Degree from Princeton University and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from
the University of California, Berkeley in 1989. He was a post-doctoral fellow
at DIMACS and an assistant professor at the University of Arizona. Since 1994 he has been at
the University of Pennsylvania,
most recently serving as Associate Dean of the School of Engineering and
Applied Science. He was on leave from Penn at AT&T Labs Research or a year
from 1999-2000. He is currently on a two-year leave from Penn while serving as
a Division Director at the National Science Foundation. His research interests
are in algorithms, software
reliability, and computational biology. He has published over 100
conference and journal papers, served on numerous program committees and been
on the editorial boards of
2 journals.
