Dr Jost is the Director for Wireless
in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Networks and
Information Integration. He moved into
this Senior Executive Service position in October 2002 after retiring from a
successful career as a corporate officer in the telecommunications
industry. Prior to his present position,
Dr. Jost was a Corporate Vice-President, CDMA Group General Manager, and chief architect
for Motorola infrastructure. In this
position, he managed the CDMA infrastructure systems development and business
area in addition to being the chief architect.
He was also responsible for the management of advanced technology
development, the high available computing environment for the infrastructure
business areas, and the company’s program management center of excellence. Additionally, Dr. Jost
served as the Vice-President, Chief Architect and Engineer for the Motorola
Space and Systems Technology Group and the Chief Engineer and Systems Manager
for the IRIDIUM Program. From 1985 to
1994, Dr. Jost worked for E-Systems (Garland
Division) as the Managing Director for Advanced Command, Control,
Communications and Intelligence Systems and as a member of the technical staff
working on classified tactical and strategic intelligence processing,
communications, networking, data processing, and war simulations systems. From 1965 to 1985, Dr. Jost
worked for Motorola Government Electronics where he was responsible for
developing tactical communications systems and satellite payloads. Dr. Jost has been
awarded six engineering awards including the Motorola Distinguished
Engineering Award. He was a member of
Motorola’s Scientific Advisory Board.
Dr. Jost was awarded his PhD in Electrical
Engineering from Arizona State University in June 2002. He is married and has two grown children.
