Mary is a Senior Vice President within FINPRO and is the Southeast Region e-Business Practice Leader. She consults with clients throughout her region in associated with e-commerce as well as more traditional insurance needs in the area of professional liability and errors and omissions. As a member of the e-Business practice, Mary provides consultative assistance to clients of all sizes and across industry segments in the areas of contract negotiation with security providers; cyberrisk identification and analysis; and introduction of best practices for network security. She is responsible for new business development for Internet and network risk and is the regional expert in cyberinsurance, overseeing the negotiation and placement of this specific coverage for clients in the Southeast. Working with Internet Security Systems, Mary designed a program through which Marsh’s middle market clients can become qualified for cyberrisk insurance and receive the valuable benefits of managed security services provided by Internet Security Systems.
In addition to consulting and insurance placement responsibilities, Mary frequently speaks at educational forums and client seminars on issues surrounding e-business risk. She is the lead contact on the Internet Security Systems relationship, a key technical and consulting relationship for Marsh, and has acted as a Marsh liaison for several federal government agencies charged with protecting the United States’ critical infrastructure, including NIST, NIAP, and the CIAO. Ms. Guzman is often interviewed by business publications and media for her expertise in this area and has been recently quoted in Forbes, Risk and Insurance, NPR (radio) and Best’s Review. She was the lead contributor to Marsh’s New Reality of Risk, which is available on Marsh’s web site.
Mary has spent her entire career in the insurance brokerage community. She began in San Francisco placing the property and casualty insurance coverage for middle and large clients, primarily in the technology industry. Mary then spent four years as an Account Executive in the Atlanta office managing technology and healthcare accounts. Prior to her current position, she acted as a Client Advisor in Marsh’s FINPRO unit consulting on Directors and Officers’ liability, Employment Practices liability, and Errors and Omissions risks.
Mary earned her B.B.A. in Risk Management and Insurance from the University of Georgia and an Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation. She has also completed six exams of the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU).
