John Grosh
John Grosh is
the Associate Director for Advanced Computing in the Information Systems
Directorate of the Office of the Deputy Under
Secretary of Defense for Science and Technology. In this position, he serves a central role
in formulating DoD strategy
and policy in the areas of computing and software science and technology. Currently, he is the co-chair of the inter-agency
High-End Computing Revitalization Task Force, chartered by the White House
Office of Science and Technology Policy to develop the Federal plan for
high-end computing. From 1998 to 2000,
Mr. Grosh managed the Common High Performance
Computing Software Support Initiative (CHSSI) and Programming Environment and
Training (PET) within the DoD High Performance
Computing Modernization Program. Prior
to this, Mr. Grosh conducted research in computational
molecular dynamics, scientific visualization, statistical hazard analysis, the
application of optimization techniques to weapons design. From 1985 to 1989, Mr. Grosh
conducted experimental work developing propulsion systems for tank
ammunition. Mr. Grosh has a M.S.
in Mathematics from the University of Delaware and a B.S. in Chemical
Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University.
