GRID
EVOLUTION AND THE ENTERPRISE
As the adoption of HPC platforms in the private sector continues
through its early growth, grid computing (however that is defined) is becoming
a frequently discussed topic. The market
segment has many ongoing debates, e.g., capability versus capacity, scale-out
versus scale-up, and grid versus clusters.
While it may be very difficult to clear up all of the potential
confusion within and amongst all of these debates, it is not so difficult to
address the rapidly advancing HPC enabling technologies, both hardware and
software. This talk will present Intel's
HPC and Grid agendas, covering technology advances in processors, chipsets,
input/output, and storage. The
presentation will map these technologies to capability, capacity, and grid
computing models.
