The Challenges of
Capability Computing and the Teragrid
Attacking a
leading-edge problem often requires many facets of capability computing,
including different computational architectures, storage, visualization, data
handling. The necessary resources are often not co- located. The National Science Foundation is developing
the Teragrid as a prototype of how these components
can effectively interoperate to facilitate solving important problems. I will briefly describe scientific drivers
for this project, its implementation, some early successes and continuing
challenges.
