Toward Petaflops Computing

The Advanced Simulation and Computing (ASC) Program has mission drivers for computing at the petaflops level and beyond. These requirements were reviewed in a 2003 JASON summer study that was commissioned by the National Nuclear Security Administration. This talk will briefly summarize those requirements and describe some key challenges to achieving petaflops scale performance on important portions of the ASC workload within the next five years.
