NASA's Columbia Supercomputer: Deployment and Impact

Reacting to the urgent need for additional capacity and capability, NASA deployed the worlds 2nd largest supercomputer in 120 days late in 2004. The NAS team was required to provide continuous computing to the agency throughout the system build. This talk will focus not only the integration of the technology into a cohesive Simulation Environment for Science and Engineering but also the immediate impact and some of the exciting results in Cosmology, Weather and Climate, Vehicle design and Shuttle Return to Flight
